What Nova can do

  • Answer questions about your plans and actuals. “How is engineering tracking on headcount this quarter?”
  • Explain numbers with a drill to the source. “Why did revenue change in March?” returns the movement broken down, with a path down to the underlying events.
  • Draft work for you. Nova suggests scenario assumptions, metric formulas, budget and reforecast rules, report layouts, and pivot configurations that you review and accept.
  • Navigate. Ask for a screen and Nova takes you there, already filtered to what you asked about.

What Nova cannot do

Nova is a copilot, not an autopilot. It does not silently change your plan, run a forecast, or lock a version on its own. When it drafts a scenario assumption or a rule, you see the suggestion and choose to accept, refine, or discard it. And it never reveals a masked figure: if your role cannot see salary detail, neither can Nova when it answers for you.

How Nova sees your screen

Nova is page-aware. It knows which area of the app you are in (planning, reporting, admin, and the sub-page within each) and scopes its answers to that context. Asking “explain this” on the Headcount Overview means something different from asking it on a revenue report, and Nova reads the difference from where you are standing. This is why the same short question gets a sharper answer when you ask it from the relevant page. Open the Comparison Center before asking “what is driving the cost variance,” and Nova already knows which two plans you are comparing.

Tips for good answers

Ask from the page that already holds the context. Nova reads your current screen, so a question asked from the right surface needs far less spelling out.
  • Name the thing you mean (a department, an account, a version) when it is not obvious from the page.
  • Ask follow-ups. Nova keeps the thread, so “now break that down by region” works after a first answer.
  • When a number looks wrong, ask Nova to explain it before assuming a bug. The drill it returns usually tells the story.
